Welcome Letter

WELCOME!

Many of you already know that your YMCA is a large part of the Greensburg community. We have been serving this community since 1858, equaling 153 years. The YMCA is much more than just a big brick building on Maple Avenue! What many of you may not know is that we continue to offer more and more programs that are needed in our community. I ask that you take time to read through our program schedule and see the many ways we impact people’s lives through all of the programs at your YMCA…I’m challenging you to learn more about your YMCA; the fact that we are much more than just a gym and swim organization.

For example, did you know that we serve adults with special needs at our annex building? These are mentally and physically challenged individuals who are learning life skills to promote independent living from the staff at our Adult Training Facility.

Also, did you know that we are the forth largest child care provider in Western Pennsylvania? We care for children from the age of two through the teenage Counselors In Training in the Summer Day Camp Program.

You also need to know that we have an annual campaign to raise money so that we may offer our Memberships, Programs, Child Care and Summer Day Camp Programs to those who can not afford the full cost. This is called the Strong Kids Campaign.

We are always looking to educate our members on all that we do. If you are interested in learning more, or becoming a campaigner or volunteer, please contact Lee Boehme, ext. 120, or  l.boehme@gbgymca.org

Again, you have been challenged to browse through our website, and learn more! Who knows, we may be offering something that can help you or a special friend or family member in need. Our hope is that each of our members knows all that is available to them and their families. Looking through our new website will be a great start!

Respectfully,

Rick Nedley, CEO
