Aquatics and Wellness Employment

  

GROUP EXERCISE FITNESS INSTRUCTOR (All Locations)

RATE OF PAY:  $15.00 – $18.00

HOURS PER WEEK:  Varies (part time)

REQUIREMENTS:  Any group ex cert accepted for higher pay rate

RESPONSIBILITIES:  The Group Exercise Instructor must teach all of his/her scheduled classes, beginning and ending on time.  Must provide adequate warm-up, exercise, stretching, and cool down.  Instruct patrons on effective workout methods; explain proper techniques, demonstrate exercises; identify different muscle groups, and teach appropriate methods to strengthen specific muscles.  Prepare appropriate equipment, music, and workouts for each class taught while assisting patrons, answers questions, and maintaining a positive exercise experience for members and class participants.  Must keep management informed of activities, facility needs, and any other relevant issues. Ensure all safety standards are met, and policies are adhered to.

 

LIFEGUARD

RATE OF PAY:  $8.00 – $9.00

HOURS PER WEEK:  Varies (part time)

REQUIREMENTS:  Lifeguard/First Aid/CPR Certification

RESPONSIBILITIES: A YMCA Lifeguard maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility.  The Lifeguard must act immediately and appropriately to secure safety of all patrons in the event of emergency.  Must provide emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.  Must be able to perform occasional maintenance duties as directed to help maintain a clean and safe facility.  Must take and record all chlorine and PH readings (after instructed on the proper method).  Must learn how to teach quality swim lessons as this may become part of his/her responsibilities.  Must be able to demonstrate proper rescue techniques when asked.  Perform any other miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

 

 SWIM LESSON INSTRUCTOR

RATE OF PAY:  $9:00 – $10.00 / based on experience

HOURS PER WEEK:  Varies (part time)

REQUIREMENTS:  Lifeguard Certification within 3 months of hire date

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Swim Instructor is responsible for maintaining order in swimming classes and the pool area at all times. Primary responsibility is to plan, organize and safely lead participants through any swimming class.  Must be comfortable teaching swimming skills to participants of various ages and backgrounds.  Must be able to provide a quality program while maintaining a safe environment for all participants as well as people observing the class.  Must be able to work and perform all duties with limited supervision.

 

 WATER FITNESS INSTRUCTOR

RATE OF PAY:  $15.00 – $18.00

HOURS PER WEEK:  Varies (part time)

REQUIREMENTS:  Any group exercise certificate

RESPONSIBILITIES: A Water Fitness Instructor must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual who enjoys teaching fitness to groups of adults.  Must be able to communicate verbally and project voice across a distance in a loud situation, while performing the workout.  Must be able to demonstrate the exercises both in the water and out of the water as needed.  A Water Fitness Instructor must demonstrate and enforce the core values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility that make up the YMCA’s character development program.

 

 

Adult Training Facility (ATF) Employment

CASE MANAGER

RATE OF PAY: $10.00-$11.00 

HOURS PER WEEK: 32.5

REQUIREMENTS: HS Diploma or GED + 1 year experience in Human Services preferred              

RESPONSIBILITIES: Daily care, training, and supervision of adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities. Must have knowledge and comply with all standards related to the maintenance and prevention of health and safety issues. One case manager must be present for every six individuals while at the facility, but also a one on one position may be assigned.

 

 

Child Development Employment

 

HEAD TEACHER

RATE OF PAY: $10.00 – $13.00 (based on experience/education as per DHS regulations)

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hr/week/non-exempt hourly, Monday – Friday

REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s in Early Childhood Education (min) & 2 years’ experience in supervision and instruction for children ages 6 months to 6 years

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Teacher will be responsible for the health and safety of the class of children to which she/he has been assigned. S/he will be responsible to teach, motivate, facilitate and provide opportunity for the assigned children to develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills through individual and whole group classroom activities. S/he will responsible to communicate with parents and to supervise and mentor staff.

 

 

IMMEDIATE NEED – BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT (BASE) GROUP SUPERVISOR

RATE OF PAY: $9.00 – $11.00 (based on experience/education as per DHS regulations)

HOURS PER WEEK: 25-30 hrs/wk part time

REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum AA in Human Service & 3 years of documented experience with children

RESPONSIBILITIES: Assisting the director with designated activities, administrative and/or supervisory duties. Acts as a role model for the children and the staff at all times. Attends all mandatory training before school year and during school year. Complete six additional credit hours in child care training courses per year. Use positive discipline techniques. Communicates with parents, written and oral. Supervises Assistant Group Supervisor and Aides in absence of BASE Coordinator. Other duties may be assigned. Programs are held on-site at local elementary schools in Greensburg, Yough, and Hempfield school districts as well as Aquinas Academy.  There are AM and PM hours available for Greensburg, Yough, and Hempfield.  Only PM hours available for Aquinas.

CHILD WATCH ATTENDANT

RATE OF PAY:  $8.00 – $10.00

HOURS PER WEEK: < 20 hours per wk/ part time (Mon – Sun.)

REQUIREMENTS: HS Diploma or GED; or 3 mos. related experience; or equivalent combination of education & experience.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Responsible for supervising and engaging the children of our members while the adults enjoy the YMCA facility. Actively play and converse with the children as well as communicate with the parents before and after their time in the area. Actively play, engage and care for the children and ensure the safety of the children.   Attend any pertinent YMCA trainings. Maintain updated files and related documents. Report any suspected child abuse to the Director of Child Care. Other duties may be assigned.

 

 

 

Facility Employment

 
JANITOR

RATE OF PAY: $8.00 – $9.50

HOURS PER WEEK:  20-29

REQUIREMENTS:  HS Diploma or GED                 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Perform routine building cleaning under supervision, including trash removal; mopping, stripping, buffing of floors; window cleaning; dusting, dust-mopping, sweeping; furniture polishing; periodic pressure cleaning; cleaning carpets, vents, machines. Upkeep of the exterior of the building & grounds. Other duties as assigned.

 

MAINTENANCE

RATE OF PAY: $10.00

HOURS PER WEEK:   20-29

REQUIREMENTS: HS Diploma or GED                 

RESPONSIBILITIES: Performs maintenance duties, repairs, installations, inspections and janitorial duties according to local, state, federal regulations and our standards. This position will be required to maintain and improve the facilities and properties. Ensure maintenance work meets or exceeds expectations as outlined per assignment for safety, quality, service, timeliness, and cost effectiveness. Maintains related supplies and work area. Ensures work records and work-related documentation are current/accurate.

 

Membership Employment


MEMBER ENGAGEMENT SPECIALIST (WEEKEND AND NIGHT SHIFT NEEDED)

RATE OF PAY: $8.00

HOURS PER WEEK: Hours are 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm weeknights and weekends. Part-time position.

REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED preferred.  Able to multi-task and customer service experience required.

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Member Engagement Specialist will build relationships and connections with and among members.  The Member Engagement Specialist will provide the highest quality of service to our members and potential members. Conducts tours, greets all members/potential members and guests, monitors access to facility, answers phones, assist Welcome Center Attendant during busy times, helps with set-up and tear down for programming.  

 

IMMEDIATE NEED – WELCOME CENTER ATTENDANT (MORNING OPENER, WEEKEND & NIGHT SHIFT NEEDED)

RATE OF PAY: $8.00

HOURS PER WEEK: Hours vary early mornings, nights and weekends. This is a part-time position.

REQUIREMENTS: High school diploma or GED, multitasking and customer service experience

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Welcome Center Attendant greets all members/potential members and guests. Communicates and promotes all YMCA programs, activities and services. Conducts tours, processes paperwork and enters data into the membership database. Handles all incoming and outgoing phone calls, maintains cash drawer and processes membership changes.

 

 

 

Programming Employment


GYMNASTICS INSTRUCTOR/TEAM ASSISTANT COACH     

RATE OF PAY:  $9.00-$11.00

HOURS PER WEEK:  5 – 20 hours/week

REQUIREMENTS:  Experience in gymnastics and passion for working with young athletes.

RESPONSIBILITIES: Take professional initiative to promote personal training, clinics and all wellness relate opportunities. To provides a clean, safe, comfortable, and enjoyable environment for our members and guests while they participate in YMCA Wellness Center programs. Design safe and effective 30 minute to 90 minute personal training programs for individual clients, adapting the strength training program to each person’s specific needs and abilities.

 

YOUTH SPORTS COACH

RATE OF PAY:  $9.00

HOURS PER WEEK:  Part time, hours will vary

REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum of 18 years of age. 1-2 years of coaching experience. Interested in child development for ages 2.5 to 14 years old. Experience playing one of the following sports: Soccer, Hockey, Volleyball or Basketball. Must be available for some weekends.
