EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES

 The YMCA of Greensburg has nearly a dozen open positions in a wide variety of areas including sports, aquatics, fitness, maintenance/custodial, clerical, and childcare.  The positions available are both part-time and full-time with benefits including FREE Y membership and program discounts.

Swim Lesson Instructor/Lifeguard

RATE OF PAY: $8 – $10 based on experience

HOURS PER WEEK: 5 – 20 hours

REQUIREMENTS: Red Cross Certified Lifeguard, Red Cross Water Safety Instructor (Preferred)

Responsibilities: The Swim Instructor/Lifeguard is responsible for maintaining order in swimming classes and the pool area at all times. Primary responsibility is to plan, organize and safely lead participants through swimming classes, teaching swimming skills to participants of various ages and backgrounds, as well as performing the essential duties and responsibilities of a lifeguard. Assures safety of all pool participants, both members and non-members and must be able to thrive in an environment with the unique challenges of a non-profit community service organization. Must be available to work mornings and evenings throughout the entire week including weekends with limited supervision.

Water Fitness Instructor

RATE OF PAY: $15.00 – $18.00 based on experience

HOURS PER WEEK: 1- 10 hours

REQUIREMENTS: Any group exercise certificate

Responsibilities: A Water Fitness Instructor must be an energetic, dedicated and motivated individual who enjoys teaching fitness to groups of adults. You must also be able to communicate verbally and project voice across a distance in a loud situation, while performing the workout in water ranging during the duration of your classes. Wellness and Sports Coordinator

RATE OF PAY: $8.00 – $10.00 based on experience       

HOURS PER WEEK:  5 – 20

REQUIREMENTS: Experience in marketing, wellness and sports programing

Responsibilities: To aid in creation, marketing, and implementing of wellness and sports programming. The wellness and sports coordinator represents the recreational interests of current and prospective members through promoting vibrant and dynamic programs.  They will assist in membership and marketing, wellness, and sports programming. HEAD COUNSELOR/HEAD COACH

RATE OF PAY: Starting at $9.00

HOURS PER WEEK: Up to 40hrs/week

REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services

RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Counselor/Coach will be responsible for planning the daily/weekly activities for each group at their site. As well as, be responsible for assisting the Youth Director in the daily happenings during the camp day. Work as a team with other counselors to actively engage campers in activities. Submit group attendance to the Youth Director daily. Pre-plan the following week’s activities. The Head Counselor is responsible for the supervision, programming and safety of campers assigned to their group. HOURS PER WEEK: up to 40hours/week

REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma/GED, 30 credit hours in an Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services, 1-2 years’ experience as a Day camp Counselor, at least 18 years of age.

DIABETES PREVENTION PROGRAM- LIFESTYLE COACH

DESCRIPTION:

The Greensburg YMCA is seeking a Lifestyle Coach who will serve as a facilitator of the YMCA’s Diabetes Prevention Program by implementing the standard curriculum in an effective, compelling way and supporting and guiding participants in the year-long program.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Under the direction of the Regional Diabetes Prevention Program Coordinator, the Lifestyle Coaches are responsible for facilitating Diabetes Prevention Program sessions and recording participant data. The year-long program consists of 16 one-hour weekly sessions, followed by eight one-hour monthly sessions. Coaches are responsible for recording weekly participant data that includes attendance, weight, physical activity and food tracker maintenance.

NON EXEMPT HOURLY RATE: $12.50/hour– Based on running one cohort per week for 16 weeks, followed by 3 hours per month for 8 months. Opportunities will be on-going. EEO

HEAD TEACHER

Responsibilities: The Head Teacher will be responsible for the health and safety of the class of children to which she/he has been assigned. S/he will be responsible to teach, motivate, facilitate and provide opportunity for the assigned children to develop social, emotional, physical and cognitive skills through individual and whole group classroom activities. S/he will responsible to communicate with parents and to supervise and mentor staff.

RATE OF PAY: $9.00/hour + voluntary benefits

HOURS PER WEEK: 40hr/week/non-exempt hourly, Monday – Friday

REQUIREMENTS: Associate’s in Early Childhood Education (min) & 2 years’ experience in supervision and instruction ages 6 months to 5 years

CHILD WATCH ATTENDANT

Responsibilities: Responsible for supervising and engaging the children of our members while the adults enjoy the YMCA facility. Actively play and converse with the children as well as communicate with the parents before and after their time in the area. Actively play, engage and care for the children and ensure the safety of the children.   Attend any pertinent YMCA trainings. Maintain updated files and related documents. Report any suspected child abuse to the Director of Child Care. Other duties may be assigned.

RATE OF PAY: $7.25 – $8.00/hr

HOURS PER WEEK:  < 20 hours per wk/ part time (Mon – Sun.)

LIFEGUARD I

Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility. Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned. Instructs quality lessons when assigned. – Immediate Need – SCHOOL AGE CHILD CARE SITE DIRECTOR

Plans, develops and monitors programs budget. Recruit, interview, select, train, and develop employees to ensure a stable, efficient and quality workforce is available. Monitor staff performance to ensure performance standards are met. Conduct performance reviews, and corrective action. Administer safety compliance and communicate to employees. Communicate effectively with all levels of staff in a manner that promotes a team spirit and a sense of cooperation. Plan, schedule and facilitate monthly staff meetings various fund raising events. Develop and maintain collaborative relationship with parents, other community organizations and customers. Establish new program activities and expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. Welcome Center Attendant (Greensburg YMCA & Outdoor Pool)

The Welcome Center Attendant greets all members/potential members and guests. Communicates and promotes all YMCA programs, activities and services. Conducts tours, processes paperwork and enters data into the membership database. Handles all incoming and outgoing phone calls, maintains cash drawer and processes membership changes. High school diploma or GED, multitasking and customer service experience required. Hours vary early mornings, nights and weekends. This is a part-time position with a starting rate of $8.00 per hour.

 

– Immediate Need –  Adult Training Facility  –  Case Manager

Responsibilities: Daily care, training, and supervision of adults with intellectual & developmental disabilities. Must have knowledge and comply with all standards related to the maintenance and prevention of health and safety issues. One case manager must be present for every six individuals while at the facility, but also a one on one position may be assigned.

RATE OF PAY:  $10.00 – $13.00/Hr based on experience
