Financially Assisted Memberships
The Y makes strengthening our communities our cause. By offering affordable child care to low- and middle-income families, by developing drug prevention and anti-gang programs for at-risk youth, by helping military families cope with having a family member overseas, and through so many other programs that promote a healthy spirit, mind and body. Twenty-one million people of all ages and walks of life who turn to one of our more than 2,600 Ys each year know we’re here for them, because we’ve been here for them the last 160 years. That’s why we’re one of the largest community service organizations in the U.S. We count on the generosity of our members and partners to keep our doors open to whoever needs a place to go to help them be more healthy, confident, connected and secure. The Greensburg YMCA maintains a scholarship fund designed to assist members of the community unable to pay the full price for their membership. Applications are available at Member Services. Members on Financial Assistance Scholarships are required to submit a new application every 6 months. This program is made possible by funds raised by our annual Strong Kids Campaign. See Strong Kids section for more information.

A.W.A.Y. Program
The A.W.A.Y. Program is based on a YMCA membership philosophy that says: When a person enrolls in a YMCA, he/she becomes a member of a nationwide association of people that helps build strong kids, strong families, and strong communities. Therefore, when away from home on business or vacation, each member will be warmly welcomed by all other participating YMCAs in the United States.
- “We at the Greensburg YMCA accept your A.W.A.Y. membership for the full use of our facility at no additional charge for up to three visits per month.” You must show your membership card.
“We strongly recommend that members who are planning to visit another YMCA call that Y in advance for policies regarding visiting members and remember to take your membership card with you. To find a YMCA in an area you plan to visit, call 800-872-9622 or use the “Find Your YMCA” tool at www.ymca.net, the Web site of YMCA of the USA, the national resource office for this country’s more than 2,500 YMCAs.
