CHILD DEVELOPMENT EMPLOYMENT
EARLY CHILDHOOD LEARNING CENTER ASSISTANT GROUP SUPERVISOR
RATE OF PAY: starts at $9.00 – (based on experience/education as per DHS regulations)
HOURS PER WEEK: 25- 30 hrs/wk part time
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of a HS diploma or GED with documented 2 years’ experience with children
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the implementation of daily activities under the guidance of the Head Teacher. Acts as a role model for the children and other counselors at all times. Responsible for general safety of the children. Discusses/brainstorms with staff on activity ideas. Attends all mandatory training. Complete six additional credit hours in child care training courses per year. Other duties may be assigned.
BEFORE AND AFTER SCHOOL ENRICHMENT (BASE) ASSISTANT GROUP SUPERVISOR
RATE OF PAY: starts at $9.00 – (based on experience/education as per DHS regulations)
HOURS PER WEEK: 25- 30 hrs/wk part time
REQUIREMENTS: Minimum of a HS diploma or GED with documented 2 years’ experience with children
RESPONSIBILITIES: Assist in the implementation of daily activities under the guidance of the BASE Coordinator or Group Supervisor. Acts as a role model for the children and other counselors at all times. Responsible for general safety of the children. Discusses/brainstorms with staff on activity ideas. Attends all mandatory training. Complete six additional credit hours in child care training courses per year. Other duties may be assigned. Programs are held on-site at local elementary schools in Greensburg, Yough, and Hempfield school districts as well as Aquinas Academy. There are AM and PM hours available for Greensburg, Yough, and Hempfield. Only PM hours available for Aquinas.
HEAD SUMMER CAMP COUNSELOR
RATE OF PAY: Starting at $10.40, based on education and experience per DHS regulations
HOURS PER WEEK: Up to 40 hrs/week
REQUIREMENTS: A bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services and documented 2 years experience with children
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Head Counselor will be responsible for planning the daily/weekly activities for each group at their site. Work as a team with other counselors to actively engage campers in activities. Submit group attendance daily. Pre-plan the following week’s activities. The Head Counselor is responsible for the supervision, programming and safety of campers assigned to their group. Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greensburg is conveyed.
SUMMER CAMP ASSISTANT COUNSELOR
RATE OF PAY: Starting at $9.00, based on education and experience per DHS regulations
HOURS PER WEEK: Up to 40 hours/week
REQUIREMENTS: A high school diploma/GED, 30 credit hours in an Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or Human Services, 1-2 years’ experience as a Day camp Counselor, at least 18 years of age.
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Assistant Counselor will be responsible for certain assigned duties by the Head Counselor and assist with implementation and executing daily activity plans of day camp. The Assistant Counselor will also provide an environment that is structured, inviting and fun that foster children’s social, emotional, spiritual and mental growth. Under the direction of the Head Counselor, the Assistant Counselor is responsible for the supervision, programming and safety of campers assigned to their group. Greets everyone by using names whenever possible; extends thanks whenever appropriate; makes relationship building the number one priority at all times. The position is responsible for ensuring that the mission, purpose, image and core values of the YMCA of Greensburg is conveyed.
